Reports suggest L.A. schools chief could step down

John Deasy, superintendent of Los Angeles schools, has signaled he intends to step down in the coming months, but he has not submitted a formal resignation, officials said. Deasy has served as superintendent since 2011, and his tenure has been marked by controversial policies, contentious relationships at times with other school leaders and, most recently, an iPad rollout in schools that has been plagued by glitches.
