Fla. residents call higher insurance costs key election issue

The six major hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004 and 2005 have sent insurance rates for homeowners soaring. Many residents say insurance costs are the top issue in the November elections. Meanwhile, companies say they must charge residents an amount that reflects the risk in the state and the higher cost of reinsurance.
