O'Neal may be on way out at Merrill Lynch

Merrill Lynch & Co. Chief Executive Officer Stanley O'Neal may be ousted for breaching corporate protocol by proposing a merger with Wachovia without consulting his board of directors. O'Neal is already facing pressure for a $7.9 billion, third-quarter write-down, which surpassed the $5 billion the company had initially estimated.
