Tips for caregivers on communicating with physicians

Being a good caregiver means having a good relationship with the patient's physician, including an open line of communication. The American Heart Association suggests caregivers explain their role to the physician and ask to be included in important communications. Other tips include keeping good notes about how the patient is doing both physically and mentally and making a list of questions to ask the doctor during the next office visit.
