Companies follow federal lead on executive pay

Many companies that have long wanted to change their executive-pay policies are using the new federal guidelines for banks as a guide. Polo Ralph Lauren and Sysco are among those firms using incentives to encourage long-term planning and less risk-taking. Polo, for example, is placing a waiting period on restricted shares and enacting performance requirements.
