Educator: Teachers can be turned off by classroom restrictions

Teachers must be given more freedom and flexibility in the classroom, according to an award-winning educator, who urged school leaders to draw more highly qualified educators to disadvantaged schools by relaxing some school regulations and mandates. "Teachers don't want to be in a place where [they] can't do what [they] know is needed," said Renee Moore, the 2001 Mississippi Teacher of the Year, at a recent forum in Washington, D.C.
