Guilty plea for fraud preceded espionage arrest

A U.S. scientist arrested last week on suspicion of attempted espionage had previously entered a guilty plea in federal court for overcharging the Defense Department and NASA for contracting work. Federal authorities arrested Stewart Nozette, alleging that he sold government secrets to an FBI agent posing as a foreign spy for $11,000. Court documents relating to Nozette's fraud plea were sealed at the time because he was helping the government with other fraud investigations.
