L.A. finds green alternatives for gray spaces

A Los Angeles landscape designer's decision to transform a client's patio into a mixture of concrete and grass is catching on in the area as a more aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly alternative. By cutting pavement into concrete tiles divided by strips of grass, Stephanie Barton found a way to break up the gray while also providing a means for rainwater to seep into the ground instead of running down driveways into the street.
