Lawmakers: Oceans task force may hamper offshore development

A group of legislators expressed concern that the programs of the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force, which was created by President Barack Obama in June, could interfere with the country's efforts "to safely develop its own offshore energy, including oil, natural gas and renewable energy." The task force's proposals also could affect the Interior Department's plan covering offshore oil and natural gas leases through 2012.
