Senator vows to continue efforts to amend Medicare payment system

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has expressed his intent to continue efforts to amend the Medicare payment system and repeal the sustainable growth rate formula following the failure to get enough support for a vote on S. 1776. The bill aimed to cancel the 21.5% Medicare payment rate cut for physician services next year and repeal the SGR formula that is the basis for the fees. "I remain hopeful we can pass a multi-year fix after health insurance reform," Reid said.
