Coral Gables, Fla., postpones vote on leaf-blower restriction

The City Commission of Coral Gables, Fla., moved to defer its decision on a proposed leaf-blower ban to obtain additional input from the city's new Green Task Force. Sponsored by City Commissioner Ralph Cabrera, the legislation will forbid garden and lawn workers from using leaf blowers, and require residents to use electric blowers only during certain hours. The appointed hours also apply to other equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws, weed trimmers and lawn edgers.
