Hospitals that want to improve their quality of care should use physicians as collaborators in the process and be transparent about the costs, according to experts. Performance assessments should compare hospital physicians and show where improvements are needed, and hospitals should offer incentives for better outcomes, such as higher compensation, additional resources and career advancement opportunities.
