Obama appoints record number of LGBT officials

President Barack Obama so far has appointed 150 openly LGBT people to his administration, more than any U.S. president in history, surpassing Bill Clinton's 8-year total of 140 out appointees. Both a more receptive White House and early organizing via the Gay & Lesbian Leadership Institute's Presidential Appointments Project are credited for the record-setting pace of LGBT appointments.
