Ariz. teachers improve through National Board Certification

Teachers in an Arizona school district say the time and effort to earn National Board Certification pays off with improved teaching. Teachers assemble portfolios, record video of themselves teaching and analyze their lessons. "As an NBCT, I'm helping to lead with educational improvements, not waiting for others to pass them to me. And research shows that NCBTs tend to have higher student achievement," said teacher Jane Sheehan. "I've grown so much as a teacher through the whole process and continue to grow every day I teach. Isn't that the true meaning of professionalism?"
