MetLife: Long-term care costs are higher

Rising assisted-living costs led long-term health care expenses this year, according to MetLife. The annual cost of assisted living increased 5.6%, to $41,724, this year, compared with a 5.2% increase a year earlier. Private-room rates at nursing homes rose 4.4%, to $87,235 a year, a MetLife report says.
