Report points to lack of middle market in home automation

The home-automation market is due to boom at the top and entry-level extremes, but integrators should think twice about aiming for the middle market, various analysts are warning. While industry observers expect providers such as Control4 to reap the benefits from an expected boom, they point to studies that predict revenues for the expensive custom channel will soar sixfold by 2017 while the affordable connected-home market will grow by 7% a year. But integrators installing systems in the $7,500 to $12,000 range could be left out of the mix.
