First look at state grades reveals big dip for St. Louis schools

St. Louis recently released preliminary state scores -- derived from test scores, dropout rates and college placement results -- that revealed the school system had dropped from 64 points to 41 points during the past year. The new score probably would have caused city schools to lose their accreditation if the state school board had not just given them a provisional extension.
