Baltimore-Washington Maglev trains get new look

A decision by the Federal Railroad Administration to make $45 million available for magnetic levitation train projects may regenerate interest in a high-speed Maglev train between Baltimore to Washington, D.C. Project backers may apply for $15 million, but that's not much given the overall cost of $3.7 billion in 2002 dollars. The trains would offer an 18-minute commute between the two cities.
