South Dakota uses IT to improve rural health care

The South Dakota Department of Health is using decision-support technology in an effort to improve health care in the state's rural regions. "In addition to helping physicians to accurately diagnose medical conditions, we can use this diagnostic decision support system to communicate public health initiatives and critical events that require immediate attention," said Bill Chalcraft, director of the SDDH's Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response.
