Editorial: Geithner should not extend TARP

The government's $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program will expire at the end of the year without an extension authorized by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. The Wall Street Journal editorial board argues that the program should not be extended and that it has become an all-purpose rescue fund. "Today there is little evidence that the government needs or can prudently manage" the TARP, the editorial board writes.
