Report forecasts the evolution of the smartphone

The smart money is on the smartphone, says an industry analyst who expects world demand to grow to 412 million units by 2014. Allen Nogee, an analyst for In-Stat, said users could expect more advanced features to flood the market and for open-source platforms such as Google's Android and Nokia's Maemo to chip away at current industry leader Symbian OS.
