Winter Olympics likely won't chill Vancouver hotel market in long term

Analysts expect Vancouver's hotel market to benefit in the longer term from the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. In part, the reason for that optimism is that there was no over-development for the Winter Olympics because of the economy, and, thus, no there will be no over-supply. Without compression, however, the city faces rate challenges, and rates even at some of the city's top hotels are expected to average about $165 this year.
