Contractor's delayed work on Louisiana levees irks feds

The construction firm tasked with the $4.2 million levee improvements in Ouachita Parish, La., has failed to start the repair work promptly, drawing flak from two officials of the Army Corps of Engineers. "We issued the notice to proceed Aug. 20 and had expected the contractor to begin shortly after that. Most jobs like this we want completed by Nov. 1," said one of the officials.
