Durable-goods orders climbed in September

Orders for durable goods increased 3.3% in September, led by a spike in aircraft demand, according to the Commerce Department. "In the first nine months of this year, total durable-goods orders are up 15% and nondefense capital-goods orders excluding aircraft are 16.6% above the same period one year ago," said Daniel J. Meckstroth, chief economist at the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI.
