Officials have unveiled a cutting-edge green-energy center that is expected to provide much of the power needed for the London Olympics in 2012. The facility will burn wood chips to generate electricity and will capture the heat produced by the process to power ammonia-based cooling devices. "It is a fantastic achievement that the Olympic Park will be powered locally," said London Mayor Boris Johnson. "Not only will it generate electricity, but the heat from that process will also be used to heat and cool buildings, providing a valuable wider legacy."
