Reno's fresh produce initiative helps students, farmers

The Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program in Washoe County, Nev., this year is bringing locally grown produce to 21 Reno-area elementary schools to introduce children to a wider variety of wholesome foods. The once-weekly program began in 2002 as a way to boost produce consumption and help farmers, but now has become a tool to fight childhood obesity and encourage healthier lifestyles.
