Should students wear Halloween costumes to school?

Several Oregon schools have banned students from wearing Halloween costumes to school, citing concerns from some that the costumes could be offensive or take time away from instruction. However, some educators invite students to dress up as their favorite book characters in an effort to promote reading. "We'll have some Harry Potters, we'll have some Romonas and a few Spider-men or Supermen show up. It's always fun to have the students explain just who their book character is," one principal said.
