Wal-Mart appeals to crowd with Facebook discount application

Wal-Mart, via its Facebook page, has unveiled a Groupon-like Crowdsaver application that offers special deals if sufficient numbers of users sign up for the discounts. The first promotion in less than a day generated 5,000 "likes," which were a sufficient number to generate an 18% cut on the $500 price of plasma TV with wall bracket.
