Washington issues proposed disclosure rules for 59 chemicals

Washington state's Department of Ecology unveiled proposed rules that would require manufacturers and retailers of children's products to report the use of any of 59 chemicals, including benzene, bisphenol A, cadmium and formaldehyde. The agency expects to issue final rules in 2011 and require manufacturers with gross sales exceeding $1 billion to begin reporting in 2012.
