AT&T, Harris to develop LTE-based solutions for first-responders

AT&T has joined forces with Harris Corp. to develop next-generation wireless solutions for U.S. government agencies and emergency responders based on Long-Term Evolution technology. According to the companies, the alliance -- which is expected to lead to broader device and application choices for public and private first-responders -- will use AT&T's 4G network to expand the emergency-service coverage areas, boost network interoperability and integrate broadband and narrowband Land Mobile Radio networks.
