Carriers are hiking fares, cutting seats for holidays, analysts say

Airlines are pushing up ticket prices and reducing flights in time for the holidays, report analysts and airfare tracker FareCompare.com. Airfares on some U.S. routes have risen 11% on average compared to those of last year and might increase further as the holidays approach, says Bob McAdoo, airline analyst with Avondale Partners. FareCompare expects airlines to cut 8,000 flights and 600,000 seats during Thanksgiving.
