About 30 Va. school boards pass statement opposing standardized tests

Virginia's standardized testing system, which calls on schools to administer 34 exams to students between grades 3 and 11, is being challenged by about 30 of the state's 130 school boards. In resolutions challenging the Standards of Learning testing system, the boards call for an overhaul of the system, saying there is little evidence the tests help prepare students for college and careers.
