Pa. to join 10 other states mandating breast density reporting

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett has indicated that he will sign into law legislation that would require health care providers to provide women with reports regarding their breast density, a move that will bring the total number of states with such legislation to 11. Dense breast tissue can harbor hard-to-detect breast cancer and may predispose women to cancer, so those with dense breasts may benefit from diagnostics such as ultrasound and MRI in addition to screening mammography, although not all medical groups agree on that point.
