Robust grid security needs to include post-breach resiliency, FERC chief says

Ensuring the U.S. energy grid is protected against cyberattacks means not only preventing damaging network intrusions but being able to recover quickly and painlessly when breaches do occur, says Philip Moeller, head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Speaking at a recent network reliability summit in Virginia, Moeller applauded the work of vendors who are pioneering new ways of addressing grid vulnerabilities but said that because no system can be 100% protected, "We want to make sure there's recovery plans in place."
