Sources: Time Warner Cable, Charter are mulling over Aereo-like approach

Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications and DIRECTV are said to be considering whether to create their own versions of Aereo, a service that streams broadcast signals in a way that it says removes the retransmission-fee requirement. The service has been sued by the broadcast networks, which want to preserve the retrans-consent system. "If found to be legal, the Aereo concept is very interesting, especially as it relates to retransmission consent fees," said Time Warner Cable spokeswoman Maureen Huff.
