Valcyte not to be used for liver transplant patients

The FDA has advised health care professionals not to use the drug for those patients, and has not delineated how safe or effective it is to use for the prevention of cytomegalovirus disease in other organ transplant cases. The medication is currently used for high-risk kidney, heart and kidney-pancreas patients.
