Study: Three-test combo can predict Type 1 diabetes

Researchers say they have determined a way to accurately predict which patients will develop inherited Type 1 diabetes. In tracking the health histories of nearly 1,500 relatives of Type 1 diabetics, researchers found a combination of three tests -- one called the "islet cell antibody" and two others that rely on diabetic biomarkers -- predicted with 80% accuracy who would go on to develop the disease.
