Waxman chairmanship could be problem for pharma, other industries

The drug industry is in for closer scrutiny if Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., becomes a committee chairman in a Democratic-controlled House. Waxman said in an interview he would target "profiteering" in several major industries. In the past he has called for the government to negotiate lower drug prices with pharmaceutical firms, and he wants to eliminate the coverage gap in the Medicare drug benefit program.
