A slight majority of U.S. companies are hanging on to the perks they offer workers despite the downturn, a survey by Challenger, Gray & Christmas finds. And they are smart to do so, says John Challenger, president and chief executive officer of the Chicago-based global outplacement and executive coaching firm. "Companies that eliminate year-end bonuses and perks or cut them to the bone will probably discover that employee loyalty and productivity are greatly diminished," he said.
