TSA expects to relax liquid carry-on rules in 2009

Airline passengers next year should be able to carry big bottles of liquids on their flights, though the containers will still have to be removed from bags for separate screening. "We're confident it's going to happen in 2009," said a TSA spokesman. Technological advances are the reason for the change, with X-ray machines now capable of distinguishing between harmless liquids and dangerous explosives.
