James Rohr, chairman of PNC Financial Services Group, said Tuesday that Detroit could stage a comeback by following the example of Pittsburgh, which has rebuilt its business community with strong components in life sciences and health care. "It's all about using the work ethic and innovation that is resident here," Mr. Rohr said, speaking in Detroit. "Don't forget what you have to build on. You can build a more diverse economy." Detroit should improve its education system and invest in growth businesses that other regions lack, Mr. Rohr said.
