Psychologist: Student evaluations of teachers can limit teacher authority

Asking students to rate their teachers can affect students' respect for their teachers and undermine teacher authority, a family psychologist says. In this column, John Rosemond advises a parent not to allow a student to complete a questionnaire that included questions about the classroom teacher. "Effective teaching, like effective parenting, is not a popularity contest," he writes.
