Alaska parents, schools aim for better student nutrition

Parents and officials in Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Borough School District are exploring ways to improve student nutrition, including eliminating chocolate milk, setting up a sandwich bar in school cafeterias and adding more fruits and vegetables to the menu. The district already has removed deep fat fryers, increased fiber and whole grains, reduced portion sizes, and eliminated bakery products high in fats.
