Construction begins on California medical and retail complex

Construction work begins this week on a mixed-use complex that will combine commercial, retail and medical facilities in a 535-acre space in Tracy, Calif. The first phase of the project, which includes a hospital and a 200-room hotel, is estimated to cost $400 million. Planning the project took about 11 years.
