Gov. Christie closes door on Hudson River rail tunnel project

Weeks after saying he opposed the proposed Hudson River rail tunnel that would link New Jersey and New York, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie hammered the final stake in the project. "What proponents are asking me to do is hand over a blank check," Christie said Wednesday while announcing the end to the dream of doubling commuter train service to Manhattan. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, R-N.J., accused Christie of killing thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in much-needed economic aid.
