Revised estimate would have Chicago-to-Quad Cities rail link ready in 3 years

Fueled by $230 million in federal funding for an Amtrak link between Chicago and Iowa City, Illinois officials said Wednesday that they expect the passenger-rail link to be in service by 2013 -- two full years sooner than a previously announced estimate from Sens. Tom Harkin and Dick Durbin. "That's exciting news," said Paul Rumler, executive director of the Quad-Cities Passenger Rail Coalition.
