Study: Data exchange boosts surgical care at Mich. hospitals

A recent study found that Michigan hospitals that were incentivized to collect and share patient data via health IT reduced their rates of surgical complications by almost 10%. "The collaboration of hospitals in terms of identifying and disseminating information about best practices is actually a much more effective way of improving quality," the study's author said.
