Iconic San Francisco building earns LEED Platinum

The Transamerica Pyramid building in San Francisco received a LEED Gold designation in 2009. Recently, the 48-story structure achieved LEED Platinum. A cogeneration plant helped it achieve its first designation. Steps taken to save energy and water resulted in the platinum award. The facility also has a "white precast quartz aggregate exterior" to reduce heat-island effect and use less energy to cool the building's interior.
