LaHood speaks out against laser incidents

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said this week that he does not "get" why some people direct lasers at aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration recently launched a website dedicated to laser incidents: www.faa.gov/go/laserinfo. "Look, quite simply, pointing a laser into the cockpit of an aircraft threatens lives, LaHood wrote on his blog. "As FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt said, 'As a former commercial airline pilot, I can tell you that shining a laser into the cockpit of an aircraft is a serious safety risk.' "
