2-sided nanoparticle study nabs $424,000 grant

Case Western Reserve University has received a $424,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to simplify the creation of complex, two-sided nanoparticles. Researchers will use the funds to produce a particle with different reactive surfaces serving different functions on each side. "The challenge is to make complicated nanoparticles that are easily reproducible," said the assistant professor of biomedical engineering, Nicole Steinmetz, who along with Rigoberto Advincula, professor of macromolecular science and engineering, will lead the research.
